In theory it sounds like it would be faster to get that.... strange... sounds like the system just has kinks in it right now....

nope, it's slower because the torrent file already has the files attached to it like an image... like the outline of the file... in fact, it's the file itself just broken down into pieces. the magnet just tells you where the file is and how to get there. so instead of downloading a file, you're downloading an idea of a file. then that idea will eventually be thought of as a file.
but let me put it this way... imagine trying to download 1 song off a discog or 1 episode off a series. first off, I can't actually physically fit a series on my PC so it will auto reject the magnet either way... but it would take a few days to notice even that... which with a torrent file would have instantly popped up and told me "hey buddy, your computer can't fit this shit" and I'd have said "no worries, I'm not downloading all of it" and gone to the "select none" button and then pick and choose what I want to download.
secondly, magnets have been around just as long as torrents, the kinks are non-existent. they are working as intended. Pirate Bay, BTJ, ISOhunt, they all have ALWAYS had magnet links next to their torrent links. I chose torrents because of ease of use. I sometimes used magnets when torrents were being buggy... but for massive file groups, magnets are just not acceptable...
more importantly, since this has gone 100% up on PB, the amount of seeders and leachers on all files has dropped significantly as well... laziness is winning out and pirating is dying.
Also, as an experiment, I tried to magnet the new bleach episode from saturday. This process usually takes me about 2 min. 5 max on a bad day of mass-torrenting. After 3 and a half hours, it still hadn't found the file(s).
After that, I decided to delete the whole thing. then I went and found a less-reputable TORRENT file link via google and tried that. and low and behold, it took just over 2 min.
megnet links are fail. more like faggot links or maggot links...
the other problem I've now noticed is that it doesn't hang onto pieces correctly either. it seems to drop pieces if you close the torrent program...

I watch Supernatural... though that show has hit a brick wall in the writing department... and I watch Bleach... but that show has ADD in the writing department... I dunno why they can't stick to a single story arc and actually finish it... it just never happens anymore...
