Charizard actually cam to love and respect Ash. Charmelion was just a dick. Its not that hate you per se... more that they dont respect your battling ability. Also you are basing that off the games, where in the anime tons of poeple dont have badges and work along side pokemon of all levels perfectly fine.

Friends. They are your friends. As with everything yes sometimes they are used as slaves, but usually they are friends, they can break out of the pokeball even if weak, they CHOOSE to stay in
